Boxing world championship will be held in Astana in 2013, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to the press-office of Kazakhstan Boxing Federation. “The Executive Committee of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) has considered Kazakhstan's application and decided to hold the Boxing World Championship in Astana,” the press office said. At the Juniors Boxing Worlds opening ceremony in Astana Kazakhstan Prime-Minister Karim Massimov voiced the country's wish to host the senior boxing world championship in 2013. The junior boxing competition was well-organized and this factored-in well with the International Association's decision to let Astana host the 2013 championship. Kazakhstan junior boxers won 5 medals: one gold, one silver and three bronze at the championship that took place in Astana on July 23-30. Kazakhstan has become fourth by the overall team score after Russia, Uzbekistan and Australia.
